NEW FOR 2019

Full Day Tour Including Half Day Equestrian Experience.

We  have teamed up with the following riding stables, to offer you the chance to go for a lesson or trek (depending on ability), as well as taking in the beauty of Cornwall on one of our tours.

Barguse Riding Centre

Lisa and Alistair Todd bought Barguse Riding Centre in August 2007. It is situated near the village of Lockengate just a mile from the A30, between Bodmin and St. Austell.
Nestled in 26 acres of beautiful Cornish countryside with fantastic facilities, it is home to 28 horses and ponies. Alistair and Lisa’s aim is to expand the business by adding to and improving the existing facilities, so that it provides a fantastic venue for shows, events and lessons that the local community can utilise.

We are 20 minutes away from some of the finest beaches in the UK where there is great surfing, magnificent walking and is dog friendly as well as numerous other attractions.

Lisa Todd ran a successful livery yard in Ascot, Berkshire for 15 years, training and schooling clients’ horses and providing tuition. Her formative years were spent competing in both affiliated show jumping and eventing competitions before turning her attention solely to dressage.
She has been fortunate to have trained with Clare Sansome FBHS (SJ), and the late Franz Rochowansky (former Chief Rider of Spanish Riding School),
However, she credits learning the German scales of training and the correct use of the seat to well-known German trainer Michael Beining. She has trained and competed to advanced level and currently owns a Dimaggio mare that she enjoys riding when time allows!

Hallagenna has been home to horses and horse riding for many years. We’re a family-run business, focused on making sure all our guests enjoy a truly memorable riding experience – whether you’re enjoying your first pony trek or honing your riding skills on a challenging trail ride.

Horse riding at Hallagenna

We’ve taken the time to carefully select our horses and ponies for their suitability for moorland riding and our customers. They are all experienced, well-handled and much loved members of the team.

We have horses and ponies suitable for all different abilities of rider. We keep a variety of sizes and types of horse and pony to best suit the needs of our riders and the terrain of Bodmin Moor. They are familiar with moorland wildlife, including cattle, sheep, buzzards and the occasional fox. They will take the changing terrain in their stride, but are equally keen to explore whatever lies ahead.

We allocate the horses on each ride to suit the ride and the stated ability of each rider. To help ensure the excited riders listen to the very important instructions of our staff, each rider is given the name of the horse or pony they will be riding before entering the mounting area – so make sure you remember the name of your steed! Our horses and ponies have easy to remember names like Katie, Lucy, Freckles, Miranda and Smurf, just to name a few.
